Taylor Swifts The Tortured Poets Department is Finally Here, And Its A Double Album April
The breakup album of the year has arrived! The Tortured Poets Department, Taylor Swift’s eleventh studio album, has emerged today (April 19) and its unapologetically sad.
Given it’s her first heavy-hearted record in nearly a decade, the 16-song collection is reminiscent of the prolific songstresses’ earlier projects. It features collaborations with Post Malone and Florence + The Machine, and even better… she unexpectedly delivered a second volume of the LP – The Anthology, composed of 15 additional must-hear tracks.
Although seemingly in the happiest relationship of her life with football star Travis Kelce, this offering is flawlessly messy, vulnerable and allegedly covers the fallout of her short-lived fling with The 1975’s Matty Healy, despite making this record after her six-year relationship with Joe Alwyn ended. Male contenders are typically are the forefront of Swift’s albums, but sonically, this one blends elements from Midnights and folklore alike, and its lyricism proves that she’s no different than any other tortured poet.
The Tortured Poets Department. An anthology of new works that reflect events, opinions and sentiments from a fleeting and fatalistic moment in time – one that was both sensational and sorrowful in equal measure.
