Jennifer Garner: I blame my pudginess on Ben Afflecks strict diet for Batman

Somehow the very svelte Jennifer Garner thinks she’s “pudgy.” She’s like the friend you avoid hanging out with who is much skinnier than you (me) who keeps lifting up her shirt to complain about a tiny roll on an otherwise flat stomach. Sometimes those type of friends are genuinely clueless and sometimes they’re humble bragging. I do have a friend who truly thinks she’s gaining weight when she remains a size two, and that’s kind of how I see Garner. Anyway Garner made these comments in an interview on Ryan Seacrest’s show, where she referenced her “pudginess” as a kind of reaction to her husband Ben’s strict Battfleck diet. Here’s some of what she said:

“There’s something about it… whenever one of us has to be really good, the other one pudges up. I don’t know why it is, but I blame my pudginess on his strict and disciplined place in life. There’s something about it that just makes me like, ‘Well, I’m gonna have a bonbon. I’m gonna have some ice cream.'”

“He worked out twice a day and ate only what was put in front of him by some very mean, mean person… Everything was cut out… If I made dinner and it was a healthy dinner, he wouldn’t even look at it, in case something hadn’t been steamed.”

As further evidence for her nonexistent “pudginess,” Garner’s skirt accidentally flew open on the red carpet for her new film, Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. She was wearing Spanx shorts. Girl, you are in no way pudgy and you don’t need Spanx!

In another new interview, on Ellen, Garner explained that she has two films to promote to Ben’s “little movie.” She’s of course joking, since Gone Girl is top at the box office. (Alexander is out this week and Garner has Men, Women and Children, an exploration of technology’s effect on relationships, out next week. It’s only in four theaters though.)

To Ellen, Garner talked about Ben showing the full monty on Gone Girl. Honestly, this made me intrigued enough to consider running out and seeing the film. Kaiser just informed me that you barely get a glimpse of it, though, and that Neil Patrick Harris’ junk gets more airtime. So now I want to see it for NPH. Garner told the audience “You’re welcome” for the flash of her man’s bits and added “I consider myself a charitable person and I wanted to give back.” Then she explained how Ben broke the news to her that he was going full frontal. She put on a deep voice and said “Hey, you know, at work today Fincher talked me into coming out of the shower.”

“Oh cool, I hope he had on a wide lens.” Badumbum. Here’s that segment of Garner’s Ellen interview.
