EXCLUSIVE: Premiere of Sophie Colette's 'That Kind Of Love'

Brooklyn based indie pop artist Sophie Colette is back with her brand new single ‘That Kind Of Love’. The new track was written by Sophie while she was holidaying in the Smoky Mountains. The original demo was performed as a lullaby, driven by  arpeggiated chords on the piano, which were later rendered by the Mellotron on the final cut of the single.

The rising star then brought the song to producer Ben Rice of Degraw Sound, who then added some reverse guitar grit, layers of flute, Mellotron, Wurlitzer, electric guitar and an uplifting groove framed by harmonic vocals and percussive elements to create a truly mesmerising sound.

Speaking about the process of making the track, Sophie Colette says: “I wrote this while vacationing in the Smoky Mountains one summer, meeting sunrise at the crack of dawn from our cabin’s porch that overlooked the woods and mountains. Birds chirping, dog panting, coffee drinking. I’d just gotten out of a draining whirlwind of a relationship and these mornings provided a meditative reset to reflect on what I wanted, especially when it came to love.I realized that the moments when time felt suspended with someone were the most precious manifestations of the kind of love I desired”.
